5 Gut Instincts You Shouldn't Ignore

We hear so many people say “listen to your gut” or “what does your gut say”, what they really mean is what is your intuition saying. There are many situations we all face in life where we rely (hope) our intuition guides us on making the right decision. We all have this incredible ability to follow that inner voice, telling us not to do something or to do something.

What essentially happens is that this indescribable gut feeling that we trust unequivocally despite understanding it at all leads to some of the biggest decisions you will ever make in life. Whether they work out as planned or not. We probably all know that a lot of these gut feelings are very often what motivates some of the more bold and most daring decisions we take in life.

However, these phantom feelings might have more about them than we think.

Here are 5 Gut Instincts You Shouldn't Ignore

1. "I DON'T FEEL RIGHT."

If something deep within your body doesn’t feel right, you should listen to this feeling before things get out of control. Many people ignore these subtle signs from their own bodies and often end up dealing with much larger problems than they expected. Your body instinctively knows when something isn’t right or off balance. Those initial warning signs (gut feelings) justify your acknowledgement and further thoughts to find out what your intuition is trying to tell you. Never hesitate to your wellness advocate if your inner voice starts to alert you to take action. The human body communicates to us surprising often through this power of intuition.

In addition, pay attention to how you feel each time you interact with someone. Do they make you feel drained, anxious, or depressed? These feelings have come to the surface for a reason. By listening to yourself intuitively you can determine which people in your life drain your energy, and who actually make you feel alive.

You intuition speaks to you in many ways so never ignore any ‘off’ feeling you get, no matter how subtle.

2. "THIS SITUATION SEEMS DANGEROUS."

If you have ever watched the Final Destination films, where one person out of a group gets overwhelming visions before something bad happens then it’s similar to this. These films, whether intentionally or not, portray an uncanny role that intuition can play in certain situations.

For example, maybe on your weekly trip to the super market someone catches your attention and you instantly feel uneasy about them. They then seem to follow you around the store and you then see them go outside without buying anything. But, they don’t leave the area and you see them waiting outside. You intuitively feel that going to your car will put you a potentially life-threatening risk. While this person many not have directly engaged or endangered you, your intuition drives you to not leave the store without telling someone.

The fight-or-flight response in us humans has evolved to warn us of immediate danger and motivate us to act on that feeling. While our gut instincts can have flaws you should always listen to them regardless. They might just save your life.

3. "I SHOULD HELP THAT PERSON."

Gut instincts don’t always indicate something potentially negative. We all originate from the same source, we have direct ties to each other and can sense when someone is in need of help. We have a powerful ability to read other people’s energy by quickly evaluation their body language, facial expressions or just how we feel around that someone.

Have you ever noticed how so many people offer whatever help they can after a disaster? This strong drive to help our fellow humans comes pre-wired (genetic memory) in our evolution as a species. After all, when humans lives off the land they depended on one another for survival. Each with designated ‘jobs’ to ensure that as a group/community they survived. They would help one another not just out of necessity but because of a deep understanding that humans need to feel cared for and protected.

Offer help even if someone doesn’t asked for it. Watch out for non-verbal cues which can offer much more insight than words in these types of situations.

4. "THIS COMES NATURALLY TO ME."

Overthinking a situation can often create problems that need never exist in the first place. Especially with regards to your natural talents. It maybe that you have spent months practising your lines for a show and have all the movements, the perfect tone and the whole thing entirely sorted. Then, the moment you get on stage for your final rehearsal you suddenly forget everything.

Those with extraordinary talents often choke when it is time for the to step up. all of it stems from allowing their mind run away with itself. Paying too much attention to their thoughts, rather than letting their natural instincts take over. If something does come naturally to you, distract your mind with something other than the task at hand. Such as a song or memory that makes you happy and allow your instincts to take over instead.

5. "THIS JUST FEELS RIGHT."

It applies right across all things in life, from changing careers, picking your next partner or deciding where to live. Your intuition actually plays a much bigger role than rational thinking in these decisions. When you make these life-altering decisions, it mostly comes down to how you feel about them at the very moment. Just think about it, we just want to be happy and feel good, so we add and remove things from our life to align with those feelings. If you career earns you £100,000 a year but makes you miserable you you stick to it? Or would you rather take your dream job that pays £50,000? Your gut would probably tell you to do what makes you happy and take the lower paying job rather than the higher paying job that sucks the life out of you each day.

A lightbulb goes off inside you when something feels right and it doesn’t require much cognitive ability. It comes easily and intuition takes over. Listen to your intuition next time you need to make an important decision – it will guide you to choose the right path.
